Day 1 - Thanksgiving and Repentance
1/3/2025
Take a moment to reflect on this transition into 2025. You may be entering a new season, witnessing God's promises fulfilled, or like the Israelites after crossing the Red Sea, seeing God's faithfulness but not yet the Promised Land. Filled with gratitude after God parted the Red Sea, Moses and his sister Miriam led the people in a song and dance of praise and thanksgiving.
[1a] Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord: "I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted... [2a] "The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him… [20] Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron's sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels and dancing. Exodus 15:1a-2a, 20 NIV
Now it's your turn. Thank God for His protection, provision, healing, and faithfulness in 2024. Just like the Israelites, 2024 is not the end of the story. Thank God for what He will do in 2025 and trust that He is the same faithful God you have read about and experienced.
Like the Israelites, we also have much to repent for like the many times we have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. Let's meditate on these scriptures and let's pray his word:
[1] Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. [10] Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. [11] Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. [12] Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Psalms 51:1, 10-12 NIV
Invite God into your heart and ask him to transform you.
[23] Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. [24] See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalms 139:23-24 NIV
Pray Romans 12:2 NIV, that you would "...not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Today, you've been given a song of thanksgiving and praise to sing and prayer of repentance to lift up to God.
Happy New Year!
