Day 10 - Young Adults
1/12/2025
Watch & Pray | Mark 14:38
Today for our devotional, we find Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane with his disciples. As he stepped away to pray, he asks Peter, James & John to stay & keep watch. Upon His return he found them asleep. Being deeply troubled, he said to them, watch and pray that you will not fall into temptation.
As we pray for our young adults today, may I invite you to pray through this scripture with me. There is a temptation to be found spiritually asleep through the midnight hour and we want our young adults to stay awake and keep watch.
So, we are given an antidote to not falling into the temptation of sleep through these last days. This will come as the YA's watch and pray. Jesus tells us to be vigilant and prayerful as a defence for temptation. This is an on-going command. May our young adults watch closely to the deceptions of the enemy, the subtleness of his lies that can draw them away from the truth of God. When someone is watchful, they are paying attention to everything around them and can anticipate when trouble or temptation comes. We want our young adults to be able to anticipate when troubles and temptation comes.
But this can only be done through prayer. See the need for prayer is that it allows us to fix our attention on God and to understand or discern the spiritual nature of our surroundings. Not everything appears to be as it is, but as we seek God's face through prayer, His power can reveal, convict and help our young people to discern how to flee and fight through the temptation of being spiritually asleep.
Pray for: Spiritual awakening, watchful eyes and prayerful hearts for our YA's.
